Hoodland Women’s Club Highlights
A new fundraiser for the Hoodland Women’s Club (HWC) will be introduced this year on Sunday, December 3, from 10 a.m to noon at K&M Creations, 24403 East Welches Road #104 in Welches. For $15 for a photo with Santa and/or $25 for a three-pose family holiday photo, local residents can help HWC raise funds in support of the local community while simultaneously celebrating the holidays. HWC member Jennifer Monahan and her friend Josh Carlile will star as Santa and Mrs. Claus. The event will also feature cookie decorating for the kids and a toy drive for Hoodland children.
Hoodland Women’s Club also participated in the community’s Night Market on November 17 at the Church on the Mountain in Welches – and will do so again on Friday, December 1, from 4-8 p.m. Everyone is invited to stop by to find a Christmas cottage to add to their holiday decor and to check out the offerings of other vendors.
In addition to the fundraising activities, the club hosted a November 30 seminar for members where they learned the basics of Google and Zoom. That event, held at Cooper’s Wine Bar & Shop, was facilitated by HWC member (and parliamentarian) Barbara Avila.
Next up on the social calendar for HWC members will be a “Bunco and Bubbles” event on December 15 from 2-4 p.m. at the home of HWC member Lynne Pollard. The event will feature appetizers, bubbly wine and a bunco game with prizes. Members who wish to attend are asked to RSVP to their e-vite by December 11.
The HWC is always looking for new members who are interested in getting to know others while helping our Mountain communities. Members of the Hoodland community (whether full time or part time) are welcome to join at any time. Dues are just $25 per year (the fiscal year runs from July 1-June 30). For more information, check out the HWC website at hoodlandwomensclub.org or contact the club’s board members at board@hoodlandwomensclub.org.
The club’s general meetings are usually held the first Monday of the month at a local business. The November meeting was on November 6 at Mt. Hood Kiwanis Club Camp. Dave Hunt, representing the Clackamas County chapter of the National Alliance of Mental Health (NAMI) spoke to the group about education, support and advocacy provided through NAMI.
The HWC’s annual holiday meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Resort at Mt. Hood, Oregon in Welches.
