Mountain Roar: Happy New Year from The Lions Club

By Lion, Milt Fox

Happy New Year to all of you from the Mt. Hood Lions Club. Let’s hope we have a great 2024.
Christmas Toy Drive Dinner!
Thank you for attending our Christmas Toy Drive Dinner. We had a nice turnout with just over 100 attending and lots of toys for the local children. I’ve never seen the Dining Room look more beautiful. The dinner was wonderful, prepared by Lion Chef Craig Calvert and his crew of very capable and hard-working Lions. Lion Craig and all of us at the club offer special thanks to St. Michaels Church for the use of their kitchen equipment. We also thank Welches Clackamas County Bank, Welches Mountain Building Supply, Coffee House 26, and the Whistle Stop Tavern for the sale of our dinner tickets – thank you all.
I was also told there were lots of food donations for the folks with the Hoodland Community Christmas Basket Program. Thank you!
Bingo!
Please remember that Bingo will resume again on Friday January 12th, 2024, and continue running until Friday May 10th, 2024. Doors open at 6:00pm and Bingo starts at 7:00pm. I hope to see you there! This is becoming a record setting Bingo year: we averaged over 107 players during the fall season!
From our Health Committee!
We are hoping to offer another Red Cross Blood Drive in the not-too-distant future. More to come.
From Lion Katie Wirth of our Health Committee, we are working with “femforward” to bring their Mobile Health Clinic to our club. The information regarding their services can be found on their website (femforwardhealth.com). Making appointments can be made through the website, by texting or calling (971-320-7305). They would start with one Friday a month depending upon need since they can see up to 14 patients in a day. We hope to start as early as this January so watch for our advertising.
It’s Great to be a Lion!
