Another life was lost on Hwy. 26.
Jay Duchemin, 53, of Arlington, was pronounced dead at the scene of a March
10 head-on collision.
A few minutes after noon Duchemin, driving westbound near milepost 52 in
the Government Camp area, crossed into the eastbound lanes and collided
with an eastbound 2004 Infinity SUV driven by William Scroggins, 49, of
Portland, according to OSP Sergeant Luke Schwartz.
Scroggins was seriously injured and transported by ambulance to Legacy
Emanuel Medical Center. He was reported in good condition the following day.
Hwy. 26 at the crash scene has one westbound lane and two eastbound lanes
separated by double solid yellow center lines. All lanes were wet according to
OSP.
Schwartz reported that both vehicles separated after the collision and the
Infinity caught fire.
All lanes were closed on Hwy. 26 for three hours before one lane was opened.
The crash scene was cleared by 4:30 p.m.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Hoodland
Fire Department and ODOT.
