ODOT completed paving and multimodal safety improvements project on U.S. 26, also known as Mt. Hood Highway, between the Brightwood and Zigzag areas in 2023.
Shared use path open
Work is complete on U.S. 26 between Brightwood and Zigzag. You may see crews picking up materials and cleaning up the sites over the coming weeks on the shoulder of the highway. Thanks for your patience!
Earlier this year, we completed repaving of the highway between Brightwood and Zigzag.
We also:
Constructed accessible curb ramps at Salmon River Road and Welches Road make it safer for all users.
Constructed a new 700-foot shared use path on the south side of U.S. 26.
The shared use path provides a safe place to bike, walk or roll near Welches Schools. We also shifted the existing crosswalk west and installed a new pedestrian signal.
