Johnson leaves post at HD 52

November 1, 2017

Often times, with dedication comes opportunity.

State Representative Mark Johnson, after seven years serving as House
District 52 congressman, is heading in a new direction.
Johnson’s resignation from the Oregon House will take place this month, after
which he will become the CEO of the Oregon Business and Industry
Association.

“It’s not a position that I sought after but one that came my way because of
my successes in Salem and reputation for being an effective legislator,”
Johnson told The Mountain Times. “It will be a huge challenge but is an
opportunity that I am excited to take on.”

Resigning his seat as state representative for HD 52 is not something Johnson
takes lightly.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time in this role and will miss the wonderful people
and communities that I have gotten to know,” he said. “It’s meant a great
deal to me to have an opportunity to regularly communicate with the folks on

the Mountain through my monthly piece in the Times. I think it’s been a win-
win for all.”

A replacement process will ensue in November for the balance of the term.
Mark Johnson’s departing column appears in the "Columnists" link in the web
edition of The Mountain Times.
